Wii the Maltese cat

Wii was beautiful grey cat from Canada. Her owner wanted her memorialized after she passed away. We had a limited number of photos we could work from, I decided on the one with the greatest detail. The photo only showed her face and a little bit of her body – even her ear was partly cut off – so I used other photos to sketch out the rest of her ear and decided to just fade out her body. Drawn with Luminance and Polychromos pencils on Strathmore Bristol vellum. I used indentation technique on her whiskers and used a fair bit of pencil solvent on her body to help with blending.
